COG Ride 27th Feb

Turned out to be a great night with a touch of star gazing – Aurora Borealis. Big numbers and not to cold either which was perfect. Slight deviation from planned route due to a traffic accident at St. Madoes. Also 2 punctures didn’t help the return leg but seeing the Northern Lights did make up for it. 🙂

COG Ride 20th Feb

Good night for the COG thursday night club ride not to cold. The wind did pick up as we were heading back to Inchture but that was the least of our worries. Chris had a troublesome night which really we should have repaired the puncture straight away – hindsight is a wonderful thing. 3 stops to inflate a tyre is not much fun – sorry guys. Oh and the police closed the Muirhead to Auchterhouse road so we had a diversion through Dronely – Birkhill.

John Muir winter carnival cyclo cross

Looked like a great day for it at Fox Lake for the John Muir Winter Carnival CycloCross Race. Although pictures show it was very muddy and a tough one. Best COG result of the weekend was Ben Fettes came in an awesome 2nd in the first race of the day!

Strathpuffer 2014

1604784_198141493726082_1576792890_nTremendous effort from all who took part in last weekends gruelling Strathpuffer 24 hour mountain bike race. Conditions were very good with only light showers and temperatures staying above freezing. Our camp was fully kitted out with everything we needed food/equipment/warmth/lights/flag which was a great help and made it easier to deal with the long hard MTB race.

Team Strath Carnage had lots of technical trouble in the beginning with punctures, snapped chain and busted brakes but then settled in and produced a very respectable 47th (26 laps) in the team category.robbie-small

Team Old Coggers had no technical trouble which was unbelievably fortunate which allowed them to grind on at a very steady pace completing 32 laps and finishing 16th in the team category.

Superhuman Robbie is the undisputed animal of the weekend completing 28 laps and finishing 4th in the Solo category – very well done sir. Even with a busted wheel and snapped chain!

Team Old Coggers: Callum, Ben, Chris & Jay
Team Strath Carnage: Colin, Andy F, Andy R & Russell
And Solo Robbie Wilson also known as ‘one litre diesel
