Tour de Tay Club Ride this week

We will be doing a Tour de Tay this Thursday 23rd May 2013. Usually a clockwise trip to Dundee over Tay road bridge through Wormit – Newport – Newburgh – Perth over to Carse of Gowrie and finish up at Inchture Hotel. Hope to see a big turn out this week, many coggers returning from a cycling break in Majorca with good miles in their legs.(Lucky chaps!) Any questions or suggestions then please discuss in our forum.

We will meet at the usual place Inchture Hotel 6.30pm

Please note for any new comers this can take 3hours or more to complete the 52miles so you may want to remember warm clothes, food and lights.

Here is an idea of the route we take: http://app.strava.com/activities/44430434

We made the papers again!

A very strong performance from Carse of Gowrie at Etape Caledonia 2013 with many of our riders sub 4 hours. Our highest placed male rider was Russell and our highest placed female rider was Steph – congratulations to you both. It is a fantastic route from Pitlochry through scenic Perthshire, up over Schiehallion and arriving back in Pitlochry after covering 131Km (82 miles) and climbing 1300 metres.

Etape Caledonia 2013

Epic performance from all COG Velo at the Etape Caledonia Pitlochry with 9 riders in the Top 100 and a couple of riders that did particularly well were Russell and Steph finishing the quickest from our Team. And those who lead the group from the front much Kudos! We were looking awesome in our new kit and the photographers took a keen interest as you can see from The Courier today front page and page 10.

Weather conditions were quite good with just the wind to deal with no rain and not too hot.

Thank you to our sponsors Miller Hendry and Medical & Dental Financial Planners.

Etape Caledonia 2013

Hope you are all ready for this Sunday Etape Caledonia 2013, trained to peak condition and bikes are all set to go. Had mixed reports on the weather for Pitlochry, I wouldn’t like to say for sure but the rain seems to be later in the day – so lets keep everything crossed. Early start time for most 6.30am make sure alarms are set nice and early.

Important: You need to take photographic id for registration. Safety pins is also a good idea for bib number.
(Friday 6pm-9pm | Sat 9am-8pm)

Good luck and enjoy the nice cycle around Perthshire!

COG Ride 3rd May

Turned into a very eventful evening! Good number of riders 2 first timers Tom and Andrew. Although I don’t think Andrew will be back out for a few weeks as he came a cropper last night landed on his hand breaking small finger and bone in his elbow – hope you are better soon buddy. Weather was a bit wet but didn’t last too long. The ride was good it started with a blast out to Longforgan, up Knapp and over to Burrelton and down Balthayock. Then we rode over to St Madoes for a sprint back to Inchture. Some fast sprints!

Epic ride through fife and sournding area which included some of the hardest and steepest climbs in our area. COG Velo was well represented on the day with both men and female riders from our club. Some fast times were registered. All in all a good training run for Etape Caledonia in Pitlochry in 2 weeks time.

And check out your offical times from Kinross Sportive website and photographs from Cycle Sport Photos.

COG Ride 25th April

Another big turn out last night a total of 10 bodies. Well it was a bit of a disaster with a total of 5 punctures – Poor Steph had 2! The ever present wind was also their to annoy us and while we waited on punctures to be fixed the temperature decided to fall – not nice brrr! At least we all made it back home safely. Couple of big climbs Glendoick & Kilspindie and some fast decending.
