Very eventful COG ride last night. Russell front wheel damaged when his battery pack fell on it – hopefully not to bad.
Pedro came a croper in the dark while heading back home. He wiped out at some road works just after Inchture junction! Hit a 3 inch drop in the tarmac and next thing the bike is side ways and he is sliding along the ground at 20mph+. Result is some road rash, holy bibs and a bent rear derailleur hanger. Punctured front tyre and torn bar tape.
Other than all of that it was a good ride in the wet and dark.

Good loop last night and turned out to be a cracking ride and hopefully everyone got home before the darkness. Seemed like a bit of confusion coming down Knapp the group split in half. Again a big turn out of 10 riders with 1 new face, hope to see you all out again.

Very well done to those who took part in the St. Andrew’s Sportive cycle at the weekend. Olly, Steph and Pete all crossed the line in great times. Pete should be commended for his double Sportive weekend for 3rd place on Saturday at the Highland Perthshire Challenege and then completing the St. Andrews Sportive on the Sunday in 10th place.
It was rather difficult to work out the true times as not everyone should which ride they took part in as there were 3 distances. But I believe Pete came 10th Olly 11th and Steph 12th – super impressive for the 65 mile loop!
Results and photographs can be found on the St Andrews Sportive website.
Prudential Ride London – Surrey 100 in central London was the biggest cycling sportive ever held in the UK with 17,500 riders. Race was started at 6.00 am by Boris Johnson Mayor of London at Olympic Park and was well organised to handle the huge volume of cyclists. Boris also took part himself and finished just over 8 hours. Weather was ideal riding conditions, it wasn’t too hot, absolutely perfect. The route was mostly flat and fast with a couple of little hills, Box Hill and Leith Hill much easier than the Carse of Gowrie climbs we are used to 🙂
I was placed 181/17,500 with a time of 4hours 18mins. I even took a stint at the front coming into HUB 1 (25miles) – that was awesome! Although it was for a short distance, still its not everyday you get to pull along 17,500 cyclists!
Anyone interested in registering for next years ballot it opens.
It was a fantastic experience and I would thoroughly recommend it. Maybe a Team COG entry next year…?

The plan was to have a quick loop around Meikleour and back, however the route ended being slightly longer than planned ( Jay!). It was good to ride on less familar roads for a change and the pace was fast. Weather was perfect for riding not to hot and slight wind. Good effort from all six riders sharing the pain on the front.

Lots of climbing last night and great weather. Big turn out again with 10 riders out enjoying the sun. Although 2 (Brian & david) turning back after the first climb up Knapp. Brian hit with 2 punctures – very unfortunate buddy.
It was a longer run being the 3rd Thursday of the month, turned out we covered 60km with a total ascent of 900m. All would agree it was a tough climb up Craigowl. Awesome preformance from Pete who flew up even with soar legs.

Hope everyone rests up and will be fresh for Saturday’s Epic Ride!

It is the 3rd Thursday of the month so the usual plan is to have a longer ride either a Dunkeld Dash or Tour de Tay.
However as we are riding an epic 150 miles on Saturday, tomorrow evening will be a loop up to Craigowl and back to Inchture still about 40 miles. Weather looks great to!
