COG Ride 11th July

Great night for a ride it was warm (20 degrees!) with a little breeze perfect. Impressive numbers again with 12 riders out in spritly form, good sprints and hill climbing. We had a guest appearance from Gary who joined us for the ride – nice sprinting mate 😉 We took a different route last night with our guide for the evening Pete – every enjoyed the new route.

La Marmotte 2013

La Marmotte GranFondo is the mother and father of all sportives cycling events. The route covers 174km of alpine cycling featuring the epic Col du Glandon and Col du Galibier.

After an epic 5,180m of climbing, La Marmotte finishes with the tortuos ascent of 21 hairpin bends to Alpe d’Huez (1,880m), scene of many literally breathtaking finishes in Le Tour de France.

The following cols feature in La Marmotte:

  • 36km – Col du Glandon (1,924m)
  • 92km – Col du Télégraphe (1,566m)
  • 115km – Col du Galibier (2,645m)
  • 122km – Col du Lautaret (2,058m)
  • 174km  – Alpe d’Huez (1,880m)

COG Ride 4th July

Another great turn out with 11 riders enjoying a COG thursday evening ride. Weather was good and wind not to strong perfect cycling weather. It turned out to be a bit of a sprint feast with the usual suspects edging to victory! Fast and enjoyable evening 🙂

COG Summer Ride

Monster COG Summer Ridebanchory16

Sat 20th July and/or Sat 3rd August
150miles / 240km

Probably 2-3000m ascent

We are planning a monster Carse of Gowrie summer ride around the Deeside loop from Inchture, taking in Cairn O Mount and Glenshee.

This will be on Sat 20th July and/or Sat 3rd August, depending on who is available and around the time. If there’s a good few folk we would do both. By my reckoning its about 150miles / 240km!!! Probably 2-3000m ascent. You will need an all day pass…….

We’ll stick together for the rides but you would need to be potentially self supporting for 12 hours! There will be lunch +\- coffee stops.

Please discuss on the ‘discussion forum‘ of the COG website, in particular indicating which, if either, date you’d be keen on provisionally coming along.

Trossachs Ton

The Lommond and Trossachs region is an area of outstanding beauty with big climbs and demon descents that cyclists love, including Duke’s Pass. What better way to spend your Sunday pedalling around the Trossachs Ton on Fathers Day. Magic!

There was a choice of a 34-mile, 66-mile or a tougher 98-mile routes.
