COG club ride with 6 strong slightly hindered by some deer crossing while travelling at speed was a bit scary. Poor Fran had a little fall – but she is fine which good news. The ride started from Inchture up to Coupar Angus then returning via Newtyle and finishing at Inchture Hotel.

This weekend will see 2 teams of Crazy Coggers heading up north to Strathpeffer near Inverness to take on the mighty Strathpuffer 24 hour mountain bike race. Temperatures will be between -10 and +10 making it very cold and yes there is snow and ice – brrr!
So what does it involve? Basically you do as many laps of the course (7 miles) as you can within the allotted time 24 hours. Aswell as riding constantly you have to eat, keep warm and stop your bike from breaking under the brutal conditions. Who needs sleep anyway?
If anyone is interested in following the event live:

We also have to wish the mad man Robbie best of luck as he is taking on the race as a solo entry – NUTTER!
GOOD LUCK!

Lots of riders out 18 in total and lots of people making an extra special effort to pimp themselves and bikes. Top marks go to Ben for not only dressing as Santa but also for bringing Santa’s sleigh to. Now what can we say about Pete…? he may have been a tad scary in his Santa skin suit… but it was super funny – well done Pete!
THE RESULTS
Almost a clean sweep from Pedro winning the first 4 stages – superb performance!
Russell secured the final stage victory with Ben placing 2nd and Pedro settling for 3rd.

Hope to see plenty of people dressing up and pimping their bikes…
The unique format will be ‘strava enduro’ 5 timed segments will be linked by social transitions. You will need a bike that you can ride off road and although there won’t be any technical single track it will get a bit bumpy.
Prizes for the stages plus best dressed and best dressed bike.

A few words from Pete.
Glorious day in Ballingry. Cold but wall to wall sunshine kept the spirits and spectators warm. COG riders in almost every race (counting COG Kids), and our fair share of bad luck. the land is pan flat, but they carved out a tough course, and some impressive mud. Lots of hurdles meant there was nowhere to hide if you can’t jump mount (I can’t!), and the crowd enjoyed some unorthodox mounting in “the arena”. The spiral of doom was endless, and I suspect there are still people riding in circles somewhere near the loch.
Bad luck to Kirsty (flat), Paul F (Flat), Pedro suffered a trashed bike – oouch thats gonna hurt your pocket (at least Christmas is coming up…)
Russell rocked to highest placed male at 18th, thought I was just behind, still 2 mins on the track. Paul F still managed 27th even with a pit stop. Kirsty was 10th in the ladies.
Good day out!
Well done to Anna, who achieved a podium spot for sprog velo.
CX-tastic!
