A trip up the Glens!
Yesterday saw a small group of Carse of Gowrie cyclists enjoying the Angus Glens. It was a big cycle, Glen Isla loop covering 120Km and up nearly 1500 metres of climbing – very well done folks.

How to join our friendly cycling club in the Carse of Gowrie.
Carse of Gowrie Velo are an affiliated British Cycling federation club.
We advise anyone interested in taking the leap in joining a cycling club. To first come along and give it a go. Our club rides are every Thursday evening at 6.30pm from Inchture Hotel. This will give you an idea of what it’s like to ride in our group and see the ability/pace of our club.
We vary our routes but generally we cover 30-50km on our short rides and on the 3rd Thursday of every month we go for a long ride about 80km. More information can be found on our Club Rides page.

Good turn out with 9 riders up for the Tour de Tay last night, with 2 new riders along for the ride (Nick & Jamie). Well done guys it certainly was not a slow pace last night hope you are not too sore today! Weather was a cold evening and the wind was at times unpleasant, however we battled through and had an enjoyable ride through Perthshire and Fife.
What a nice evening it was for a club ride. Sun and no rain with a little wind. Two new faces joined us last night which was good Will and Kieran. Hopefully we didn’t put you off with the tough little climbs Kilspindie and Glen Carse we took you up.
6 keen COG cyclists out for a little spin before the Etape Calendonia on Sunday. Our ride was through Longforgan up to Fowlis loop back down then up Jock’s Brea and down Abernyte to finish at Inchture. Weather was ok not windy and only some rain but the roads were very muddy! Nice easy pace.
Turned into a very eventful evening! Good number of riders 2 first timers Tom and Andrew. Although I don’t think Andrew will be back out for a few weeks as he came a cropper last night landed on his hand breaking small finger and bone in his elbow – hope you are better soon buddy. Weather was a bit wet but didn’t last too long. The ride was good it started with a blast out to Longforgan, up Knapp and over to Burrelton and down Balthayock. Then we rode over to St Madoes for a sprint back to Inchture. Some fast sprints!
Another big turn out last night a total of 10 bodies. Well it was a bit of a disaster with a total of 5 punctures – Poor Steph had 2! The ever present wind was also their to annoy us and while we waited on punctures to be fixed the temperature decided to fall – not nice brrr! At least we all made it back home safely. Couple of big climbs Glendoick & Kilspindie and some fast decending.
Great turn out for thursday’s club ride, one of our biggest so far 11 bodies. The route took us up to Murthly – Meiklour then a Figure of 8 and back to Inchture Hotel. A few KOM’s on the way nice one Brian and the mandatory sprint to the 30mph signs which I think Ben was our points winner for the evening.
We are planning on a 40 mile route tonight from Inchture Hotel – Murthly – Meiklour Figure 8 and back to Inchture. Hopefully the wind will ease of for tonight.
Any questions or suggestions please post in the discussion forum.
Last night turned out to be a good clear night for a spin. Good effort from Russell, Brian and Chris. Unfortunately Brian had a puncture, hope you get that fixed soon mate.
