Another different route this week, we sure are mixing it up!
This week numbers were slightly lower due to the holiday season but still we had 6 riders out enjoy the lovely weather, including 1 new member Neil – hope to see you out again. Everybody seemed to enjoy the route which turned out to be slightly longer than usual and covering 650m elevation! Nice sprinting up Glendoick from everyone Nick and Chris just making it to the top first – nice work chaps. Strong effort out of Newtyle guys even with the slight head wind.
Good turn out with 9 riders up for the Tour de Tay last night, with 2 new riders along for the ride (Nick & Jamie). Well done guys it certainly was not a slow pace last night hope you are not too sore today! Weather was a cold evening and the wind was at times unpleasant, however we battled through and had an enjoyable ride through Perthshire and Fife.
We will be doing a Tour de Tay this Thursday 23rd May 2013. Usually a clockwise trip to Dundee over Tay road bridge through Wormit – Newport – Newburgh – Perth over to Carse of Gowrie and finish up at Inchture Hotel. Hope to see a big turn out this week, many coggers returning from a cycling break in Majorca with good miles in their legs.(Lucky chaps!) Any questions or suggestions then please discuss in our forum.
We will meet at the usual place Inchture Hotel 6.30pm
Please note for any new comers this can take 3hours or more to complete the 52miles so you may want to remember warm clothes, food and lights.
What a nice evening it was for a club ride. Sun and no rain with a little wind. Two new faces joined us last night which was good Will and Kieran. Hopefully we didn’t put you off with the tough little climbs Kilspindie and Glen Carse we took you up.
Turned into a very eventful evening! Good number of riders 2 first timers Tom and Andrew. Although I don’t think Andrew will be back out for a few weeks as he came a cropper last night landed on his hand breaking small finger and bone in his elbow – hope you are better soon buddy. Weather was a bit wet but didn’t last too long. The ride was good it started with a blast out to Longforgan, up Knapp and over to Burrelton and down Balthayock. Then we rode over to St Madoes for a sprint back to Inchture. Some fast sprints!
COG Velo will be well represented by both men and females at this years Etape Caledonia. Remember you can check your start times from Etape Caledonia’s website.
Another big turn out last night a total of 10 bodies. Well it was a bit of a disaster with a total of 5 punctures – Poor Steph had 2! The ever present wind was also their to annoy us and while we waited on punctures to be fixed the temperature decided to fall – not nice brrr! At least we all made it back home safely. Couple of big climbs Glendoick & Kilspindie and some fast decending.
We are planning on a 40 mile route tonight from Inchture Hotel – Murthly – Meiklour Figure 8 and back to Inchture. Hopefully the wind will ease of for tonight.
Any questions or suggestions please post in the discussion forum.
Great turn out last night of 8 riders, Chris, Jay, Brian, Russell, Ali, Pete, Steph and Nick. We opted for a blast along to St Madoes and up Glen Carse and Kilspindie so it was a good session.Colder on the higher ground and longer nights so more daylight – bonus! A few competitive sprints for the 30 sign – which was good.
First of the longer evenings, we just need the warm weather now! Five riders tonight Nick, Brian, David, Ali, Chris and Jay. Finally got rolling after a delayed start – coffe indeed huff! Did two hills route with slight showers which made it quite cold.
