Big turn out again 19 riders – must be the weather! Indeed the weather was perfect with only a slight wind. Again we put in a checky APR to keep people on their toes.

3 Pistes Sportive

Good luck to all COG Velo who are taking part in the Three Pistes Sportive on 1st June 2014.

Looks like a tough course:

102 miles and 2690 metres of climbing!

The route takes you past 3 ski centres, over the UK’s 2 highest roads, through some of the UK’s most remote countryside, ascending eight categorised climbs (4 of which have gradients of 20%) – and finishes by climbing the UK’s 4th highest road to Cairngorm Ski Centre.

The event has sold out but you can find out more information from their website.

Fred Whitton

Some of you mad Coggers are taking on the Fred Whitton Challenge, arguably one of the toughest sportives – Nutters!

A sportive like no other: 112 miles with 4000 metres of climbing!

Riders list for 2014

There is still time if anyone would like to contribute to our club fundraising page. Thank you.

More information about the Fred Whitton Challenge

Good luck and hope you all come back safely. Also keep a watch on strava for when Russell and Pedro make a break for the KOM (30% incline).

I am praying for better weather than what the Met Office is predicting.

Results and photos are up from the Ist Etape Loch Ness on Sunday.

Results and offical photos

In the papers and on tv – COG is on a roll this year! BBC News Video / News article.

Other photographs: Alba in Focus and Etape Loch Ness

Well done to all who took part at the weekend, the photos look amazing – very scenic Inverness route. I heard the climb was a bit tougher than most people expected. Superb effort from the Crawfords, Steve 15th overall and Fran 5th overall in the ladies category.

Rest up and have a beer or glass of wine you have earned it.
